Perfect For the Job

Perfect for the Job

by Maria Hartman

Have you ever felt like you just couldn’t do what God wanted you to do? If you’re honest, you most certainly would answer yes.  Have you ever felt guilty for feeling like that? You aren’t alone. Throughout history some of the most godly men and women have felt that way. But that doesn’t mean we have to give into this or any other ‘feeling’. With a willing heart and obedience to God we can do anything.

Exodus 4:10-12 Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD?

Moses was called of God and there was no excuse he could give to the One who made him just as he was. I sometimes think that if we thought we were good at all the Lord asked us to do, we’d be so much less dependent upon Him every step of the way.

1 Corinthians 2: 1-4  And I brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of
power

Paul too, did the work God specifically called Him to without a level of confidence that he would have liked to have. But he came as he was with a deep reliance upon God and a keen awareness of his limitations. Don’t gloss over the fear and trembling part; this man was not in his comfort zone! But Paul clearly states what all this demonstrated: the Spirit of the living God and His power. This IS what it demonstrates when you and I step out and into the job that God has chosen for us as well.

Do you know that even though you have been given a specific way of doing your job, we all have the same exact job? And we are all perfect for this job! He who has called us is faithful and will equip us. THE job is to be a witness of who He is, just like it was for Moses and Paul. I tend to think of these amazing men as never fearing; and bold as lions… willing to persevere no matter what. But they too knew they couldn’t do anything without Him. As they obeyed, they learned that with Him, there was nothing they couldn’t do.

For Today:
Friends do you realize that Jesus Christ has made you perfect for whatever job He has for you to do. Stop thinking you are inadequate and therefore can’t make progress for the kingdom of God. Of course you are inadequate alone, but you are not alone if you are led by Him to take ground for Him. Why would he ever call us to anything and not provide what we need to succeed? I remember hearing someone once say: “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.”

What task or ministry has God provided for you personally? It may look too hard, feel too hard, and others may tell you it's too hard. But remember this: God knows who is perfect for the job.
