What Do We Have A Taste For? Home Life Challenge #7

This weeks Home Life Challenge is to evaluate the idols in your life.  Many times when we think of idols we think of bowing down to a figure or image.  In our age this is no longer a problem for many, but these idols come in different forms.

In the story of Jacob and Esau, Esau gives up his birthright for a "taste" of food.  Food had become such an idol in his life that he gave up his most important possession.   We might think that is silly until we examine our own lives.  What do you struggle with that is replacing something important?  Idols are very dangerous, they hinder growth, and can separate us from the things we should love!

Here is an evaluation worksheet to see what your idols are;

  1. I don't even need to do the eval worksheet... Food IS my idol, just like Esau... and I sooo want to give it up for good! I have periods of time where I am successfull, only with God's help, but then I turn back to it, like a magnet to metal... ugh... It is the biggest thorn in my side and I know God wants to use me and bless me soooo much more when I get past this! Only with HIS HELP... ;-)
