Creative Encouragement

Every week the kids and I try to do a "Creative Encouragement" activity.  This is a fun activity that we do to encourage someone else.    1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build up one another..."  So we  took this verse and made it into a fun weekly activity.  Sometimes we take things to our neighbors, or make cards for friends and family, or make goodies for someone.  I want Garrett and Lexi to see the joy in giving.  Right now as children they only see the benefit of receiving.  By doing this they can take part in seeing the joy it brings to others.

This month is Pastor Appreciation Month so we devoted this weeks encouragement activity to our Pastors.  We made little goody bags with cookies and candies. The kids always have a wonderful time with our activities.  I love it because it shows them how fun ministry can be!

Our church has 9 wonderful Pastors and we love each of them dearly.  We are so blessed to have such a wonderful group of men leading our church.  Thank you men for your wonderful example and testimony to us.
As we were preparing the little treats I was telling Lexi and Garrett that they could not tell Daddy about the special treat.  So, Mark gets home and Lexi runs right up to him and says, "I can't tell you about something."  Immediately he knew something was up.  She is our little secret teller.  We could talk ALL day long about anything and not hear a word from her, but as soon as you say secret she blabs.  Well she didn't exactly tell him, but he found out.

Ever have wonder moments?

I do...sometimes I just have to wonder how? about different things like...
...how my Orchid is still alive after 4 months.  I know they are supposed to live a long time, but not under my watch.   My name should include plant killer somewhere in it.  Mark got me this Orchid right after I got out of the hospital with Breanna, and it still looks as beautiful.
...how a sweet little girl can sit in the back seat of the car and put stamp not only all over her hands, but all over her face.  Not to mention the fact that we were on our way to Walmart.  I don't buy certain items for my children and on that list includes stamps.  There are other items like puzzles and play dough.  She got this item from her teacher...obviously a FUN mom. :)

...how Garrett can wear a new (to us) pair of pants to school and put a hole in them after one day.

These are just a few wonder moments I thought about yesterday.  I love wonder moments...when you add them all up they make life tons of fun!

Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement over my last post on Breanna.  Yesterday turned out to be the most wonderful day.  We switched her completely to formula and it made a world of difference.  I don't know why formula would make such a difference, but she seems to be much happier.

  1. Breanna is SO much like Savannah was as a baby! I had to switch Savannah to formula too and she was a happier girl! I'm glad things are going better! Hope you have a great weekend!
